Top 10 Mistakes We Make With Our Children Everyday (Part 2)

By

This is part 2 of a 4 part series on the Top 10 Mistakes We Make With Our Children Everyday… Enjoy!

Mistake Three. Doing everything for them.

A child should be raised to be independent and responsible for his or her lifestyle. With that said, why are parents cleaning up things they can do themselves? Give them tasks the can handle, so that they learn not to rely on others to do things they are perfectly capable of handling.

Mistake Four. Never telling them “no.”

You are repeatedly interrupted by your child’s requests and gradually you become angrier and angrier, yet you fulfill them anyway. Then when you can’t meet their needs when they want, you decide to discipline them. Do you see what’s wrong? The child has developed a pattern with you and eventually he or she will expect others to do what you do; unfortunately they will learn the hard way.

Mistake Five. Speaking gibberish.

Once a child reaches a certain age to say the English words to describe common items, why not teach them the right words? You may know what your child is saying, but the babysitter and relatives will not be able to meet your child’s needs when they don’t know what he or she is saying.

We’ll continue this series with mistakes 6 & 7 next time.  Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss it!
