Unstoppable Life – Part 2
ByUNSTOPPABLE LIFE
“… being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ.” Philippians 1:6
Follow me for a second on the internal thought process and see if you don’t find yourself saying some of the same things…. [Friday afternoon] “I can’t wait to lose this extra weight, and this time is different. On monday, I am starting fresh. A new day has come, I can do this!” [Sunday Night] “Okay, tomorrow is the day it all changes, just this last big meal before I’m a changed person. I better get in the cookies tonight because tomorrow I’m on the straight and narrow.” [Monday morning] “Let’s do this!!! I am ready to tackle the day, nothing is going to get me off course.” [Later Monday morning] “1 doughnut won’t kill me, I’ll work it off later at the gym anyway.” [Monday afternoon] “I really need to get on this report for my presentation Thursday, I’ll start going to the gym tomorrow.” [Friday afternoon] “On monday I start….”
SELF-TALK can be the greatest help or hurt to our current situation, and whether or not we reach our goals. The attitude of our self-talk will determine the outcome 100% of the time. Search your own history. Have you ever succeeded at something long term, where the self-talk didn’t match the outcome? For many of us, its the gradual improvement of our self-talk as we progress in any given area that makes the difference for another day/week/month of effort.
What is your Self-Talk telling you? In the context you so choose, read this scripture from Isaiah 58 as you take control of the negative self-talk in your life: “You’ll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew, rebuild the foundations from out of your past. You’ll be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate, make the family/community livable again.”
In part 3 of this series on the Unstoppable Life, we’ll look at Committing to the Mountain. In the meantime, answer Question 2: What is the self-talk I have made agreements with? If you know what subtle agreements you’ve made that need to be broken, Sound Off here and leave a comment. It will help others in your situation now!
