Lost: A Battle for Character – Part 3
Posted by: | CommentsIn this series LOST: A BATTLE FOR CHARACTER, we will be taking a closer look at the pillars of character that has been shaping our world since God created it. Character are those qualities built into your life that determine your response, regardless of circumstances. And like the brilliance of a diamond, success in every area of your life will be enhanced as you develop each facet of your character. As imperfections are cut or polished away, you can reach your full potential.
Have you Lost the Character of….
Integrity: The best definition I’ve ever heard for Integrity is when your behavior matches your beliefs, essentially “what you do when nobody is watching”. A person of integrity won’t roll the stop sign in the middle of the night, or cheat on his tax returns to save a buck, or as scripture says in Psalm 15:4 “…keeps his oath even when it hurts.” The benefits of Integrity include having a constant peace in your heart, gaining the trust, respect, honor and influence of those around you, and walking closely with God. Jesus showed us many times God will be harder on hypocrites than on sinners! Think about this: when you have integrity, that’s all that matters, and when you don’t have integrity, that’s all that matters. The Character of Integrity: FOUND
Hope: “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast…” Hebrews 6:19. What do we have if not hope? Without it, people are angry and depressed and isolated and scared and dying. Yet, those who believe are given eternal hope. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give to you a future and a hope.” Jer 29:11. Know God, Know Hope… No God, No Hope. The Character of Hope: FOUND

Will You Finish Your Race?
Posted by: | CommentsWe each have a race we are running. Whether you know it or not, you find yourself in a marathon of life. If you have been blessed with a family, that is a clue to the race you are running.
Will You Finish Your Race?
God did not give you the gift of family to merely start the race, He blessed you with family so you might finish the race He has surrounded you with. The apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 9:26 “Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.” And in Deuteronomy 6 we are reminded that God gave us His commands upon our hearts, so we might “Impress them on your children.”
In the video clip, I think you would agree, John Stephen Akhwari models great character. To any parent who really cares about their children, nothing is of greater importance than training for discipline and instruction in principles. Character is the way we act when nobody is looking. You have a race to finish… and it is never too late to impress character upon your children and children’s children.

Have you Lost the Character of….
Faith: The first step in restoring honor is to honor God. And, the way you honor God is by placing your faith in Him to the extent that you commit your life to his service. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as: “The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” But, it is in context of the entire chapter that we come to understand that when we place our undying faith in God, we can accomplish great things. Read the entire chapter to your family tonight. And, then point to people in our time who have accomplished great things in the face of insurmountable odds by being people of faith. The Character of Faith: FOUND
Honor: This character quality goes hand in hand with Faith. The reason our culture is dishonoring today is because there is little honoring of God being done, even though America was founded on such. Isaiah 29:13 “These people come near me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me…”. Honor is to value, to respect, highly esteem, or treat as precious. While respect can be earned, Honor must be given. Are you freely giving honor to those you value, respect or esteem? The Character of Honor: FOUND
